Analytical Solution of The Laminar Boundary Layer Flow over Semi-Infinite Flat Plate: Variable Surface Temperature
Authors
Abstract:
In this paper, the problem of forced convection over a horizontal flat plate under condition of variable plate temperature is presented and the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) is employed to compute an approximation to the solution of the system of nonlinear differential equations governing the problem. This paper provides good supplements to the existing literature and generalizes the previous investigation of the problem under condition of fixed plate surface temperature. It is shown that HPM is accurate and reliable with high acceleration in converging.

A Novel Similarity Solution of Turbulent Boundary Layer Flow over a Flat Plate
In this paper, the similarity solution of turbulent boundary layer flow on the flat plate with zero pressure gradients is presented. By employing similarity variables the governing partial differential equations are transformed to ordinary ones with inconsistent coefficients and solved numerically with the use of Runge–Kutta and shooting methods in conjunction with trial and error procedure. Fo...

In this paper, an integration of a symbolic power series method - Padé approximation technique (PS - Padé), was utilized to solve a system of nonlinear differential equations arising from the similarity solution of laminar thermal boundary layer over a flat plate subjected to a convective surface boundary condition. As both boundary conditions tended to infinity, the combination of series solut...
full textForced Convective Nonlinear Laminar Boundary Layer Flow of a Nanofluid over a Flat Plate
Forced convective heat transfer plays a significant role in almost all industrial sectors. Examples include cooling of microelectronics, process intensification in the chemical industry, heat exchange/waste heat recovery in power plants and cooling of car engines, to name but a few. In special, a study of forced convective laminar boundary layer behaviour on a flat plate has attracted the atten...
full textLagrangian analysis of the laminar flat plate boundary layer
1 The flow properties at the leading edge of a flat plate represent a singularity to the Blasius laminar boundary layer equations; by applying the Lagrangian approach the leading edge velocity profiles of the laminar boundary layer over a flat plate are studied. Experimental observations as well as the theoretical analysis show an exact Gaussian distribution curve as the original starting profi...

full textStationary flow past a semi-infinite flat plate: analytical and numerical evidence for a symmetry-breaking solution
We consider the incompressible stationary flow of a fluid past a semi-infinite flat plate. This is a very old and well studied problem and is discussed in most introductory texts on fluid mechanics. Indeed, an easy scaling argument shows that far downstream the flow should be to leading order described by the so called Blasius solution, and this has been confirmed to good precision by experimen...
